Padella, Borough Market

PadellaPADELLA. FINALLY!I could leave the review at that. All you really need to know is - go to Borough Market, eat pasta at Padella. If like me it's taken you three years to get around to it, don't be me. I'm silly. Padella is 100% worth the effort. Located in Borough Market, this cosy Italian rustles up some of the best pasta outside of Italy. With dishes such as Rabbit & Sage Caramelle, Chicken Liver Pappardelle and Nutmeg Butter Gnochhi, it's no wonder Padella has a permanent queue around the block! That's the only downside, you have to queue. Padella don't take bookings, and rightly so. They don't need to! They're full all day, every day. With a small kitchen of expert chefs, serving up incredible dishes, they admit they can only serve 15 people at a time. Hence the queue, but believe me it's worth the wait.Aperol Spritz Padella Padella London BridgeAt midday on a Saturday, it only seemed right to pair our lunch with two glasses of Aperol Spritz! For starters we shared Ricotta & Tomato Crostini and the BURRATA. It's in capitals because I'm excited just thinking about it. You could order bread to enjoy your burrata with, or eat it along side the crostini as we did. Either way it doesn't matter. Just order the burrata! For mains, Katy chose their Ricotta & Sage Butter Ravioli which smelled like a literal dream, whilst I went for one of their famous dishes - Pappardelle with 8 Hours Dexter Beef Shin Ragu. Although I'm not a massive meat eater, I couldn't visit and not try this dish, and boy did it live up to expectations (and more)!Simple, perfectly balanced flavours and the most delicious handmade pasta. As if things couldn't get better, each dish is topped with copious amounts of grated parmesan...Padella pastaWhilst there's a small dessert menu, I challenge you to try and fit one in! The dishes might not look massive but believe me they are more than enough. And you want to leave, savouring that delicious ragu.As the bill was laid in front of us we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the price too - £25 each for a starter, main and cocktail per person. Not too shabby, especially considering it was the meal of the day/week/month/year!So what are you waiting for? Head to London Bridge and get in that queue. I would've suggested a tip of getting there just before it opens at midday. However, we tried this unsuccessfully. We arrived at 11.30am and had to queue for an hour. So just suck it up and get in line. It's honestly worth the wait.Padella: 5/5
