Mr Fogg's Residence, Mayfair

Mr Foggs ResidenceA little while ago, Chloe and I, enjoyed a few drinks after work one weekday evening at the beautiful Mr Fogg's. With 3 locations across London (two in Covent Garden and one in Mayfair), we decided that our first experience of Mr Fogg's should be at the Mr Fogg's Residence in Mayfair, where it all began!Located down a narrow, dark street, away from the hustle and bustle, it would be hard to spot if it wasn't for the smartly dressed doorman. On approach he kindly asked if we had a reservation, and shortly afterwards we were ushered up to the door where he rang a doorbell, and a second doorman led us inside. It was all very fancy! As soon as we entered Mr Fogg's we were mesmerised by all of the ornate decorations. Birdcages hang from the ceiling, along with Phileas Fogg's air balloon, plus taxidermy, a library and portraits to name but a few. The walls, floors and ceiling are quite literally adorned with items. Even the armchairs and stools will make you smile. It reminded me a lot of how my Nan's living room looked when I was younger, cluttered! Except Mr Fogg's idea of clutter sets the mood perfectly and creates an inviting space that you won't want to leave.Mr Foggs Residence MayfairMr Foggs MayfairThe drinks are pricey, even for London, but the menu is exquisite, with an extensive list of cocktails for every spirit. We of course opted for gin based cocktails (what else!) and they were presented beautifully, in ornate cut glass glasses. Chloe's second drink was presented in a china tea cup which was just the cutest!Presentation is hard to beat, as is flavour. Each cocktail that we tried was delicious! I would even go as far as saying that they were the best cocktails I've ever had, and I know that that's a bold statement! But honestly, they are that good.It also happens to be waiter service, so there's no queuing for hours at the bar, and each table is given a tea cup of savoury nibbles, which are constantly topped up or replaced throughout your visit - this is a big plus for me. Who doesn't want a snack with their drink?Mr Foggs reviewMr Foggs Mayfair reviewMr Foggs cocktailsEach cocktail was around £13-£15, plus service charge. But 2 drinks and £30 later, I was feeling quite chuffed at our lovely evening and felt it was £30 well spent.I would suggest booking ahead. This was actually the second time we attempted a visit. The first time we didn't have a booking and thought 'how busy can 6pm on a Thursday be?'. It turns out - VERY! So definitely book to ensure you have a table too. You might be able to stand at the bar without a reservation, if there's room, but it wouldn't be the same experience.Mr Foggs LondonMr Foggs cocktail bar LondonMr Foggs cocktail bar MayfairMr Fogg's Residence review: 4/5
