I’m off to Citadel festival today and what more do you need for a festival than a trusty pair of wellies? I was caught out a couple of weeks ago at British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park, when the day had started off all blue sky and sun but quickly turned grey and we endured a heavy storm. It only last 20 minutes or so but it was so heavy that the park started to flood and it was safe to say our bare legs were freezing and our sandals ruined. At the time I remember thinking ‘I must invest in a good pair of wellies’ and just like that, I now have!
The best thing about these Butterfly Twists wellies is that they’re short. Obviously sometimes when festival become seriously muddy, you need calf or knee high ones – Glastonbury I’m looking at you! But most of the time I find that longer length wellies make my legs seriously sweaty and they’re super uncomfortable, not to mention a nightmare to pull off. Especially when caked in mud!
However this shorter style from Butterfly Twists is perfect for that in-between weather, which we so often experience here in London. It might be warm and humid but it can really bucket it down and as all festivals in the city or located in parks, things can turn muddy super quickly. The shorter length of these wellies also makes them far more comfortable to walk around in all day and super easy to slide on and off. So if by chance we suddenly have a heat wave, I can easily pull them off and let my feet breathe.
This particular pair of wellington ankle boots come with a knitted cuff too, meaning you don’t get that horrible rubbing on the leg which can be really nasty if you’re wearing wellies for long periods of time, especially if you have bare legs. This extra comfort feels so luxurious at a festival and although they have this extra bit of padding, the boots themselves remain lightweight, making them super practical. I basically can’t shout about these enough!
Priced at £45 they are much cheaper than other high quality competitors and I know will last me a lifetime.
