Just before Christmas I was contacted by the lovely team at Fragrance Direct about their wide range of make-up products. I hadn’t realised that Fragrance Direct sold make-up, or stocked so many fantastic brands, many of which are favourites of mine – including Mac, Clinique Bare Minerals and Essie.
Their email couldn’t have come at a better time. I often use Christmas and my birthday as an opportunity to receive new make-up, whether my every day essentials are running low, or whether I fancy trying something new. Also, with the New Year just around the corner (quite literally), it’s a great time to refresh your beauty regime.
That being said I have opted to stick to two favourite brands of mine – Mac and Clinique. I have only every bought lipsticks from Mac, so this time I decided to try one of their blushers to mix things up a little. I’ve also been a little disappointed with the look of my foundation recently. I used to think I had dry skin, but actually I think I may combination. I have a few areas on my face that are prone to a build up of oil and I find that my current foundation isn’t helping. So I took this opportunity to try something that I hadn’t had before from Clinique.
I tried to take a good shot of my face to show off my new purchases, but not being a beauty blogger I think I may have failed. I probably should’ve shown swatches. My bad! I find beauty bloggers who show swatches on their hand/forearm are SO helpful. Whenever I go to buy any make-up online I always Google the product and colour first to see what it looks like. Damn, I really should’ve done that for you. Although you could just as easily search for the blusher in the same way 🙂
I’m really pleased with Mac’s ‘Blush Baby’. It’s a perfectly deep pink shade and will be a great blush to transition from winter into spring. With the face powder, it’s obviously harder to know the right shade for you when purchasing online. Luckily Clinique’s blended face powders all come in translucent with just a small hint of colour. I went for the darkest shade Fragrance Direct had, but I still think it’s a little too light. I like to have a glow and found that this foundation didn’t work with my bronzer. However, it’s a great size for the price and I’ve heard great things about it. In fact both products save you about £1.50 each off RRP.
Have you ever bought from Fragrance Direct before? Have you tried either of the make-up products shown here?
