ghd Curve classic curl tong – £110
Up until now I have always used my ghd straightener to curl my hair, whether it’s loose curls or beachy waves. However, I’ve never been satisfied with the effect. Many years ago, when I was a teenager I had a curling tong but found it would take ages to heat up, and the curls would never stay in. Since that experience, I’d been put off curling irons, and instead have used straighteners. Until now!
ghd have created a series of curling tongs as part of their Curve collection. Each tong is slightly different in shape, meaning it creates a different effect. Whether it’s beachy waves, voluptuous volume or classic curls that you’re after, ghd have a curling wand for you!
I chose to review the Classic Curl Tong, as I wanted a versatile product that I could create different looks with. My first attempt wasn’t the best, I have to admit. I ended up burning my finger twice and one half of my head held tighter curls than the other! However, after viewing the ghd tutorial videos, I got the hang of it on my second attempt, and was really happy with the results.
The tong heats up within seconds, and the curling wand features a protective cool tip at the end, meaning you shouldn’t burn your fingers (if you hold it correctly, unlike me!). It retails at £110, with free delivery, which isn’t bad when you consider how long they last. My straighteners have lasted years and years, and I use them every day. So it’s a great investment. I’d also recommend purchasing the protective spray… my house mate is a hairdresser and she explained just how much damage straightening/curling your hair does, and how protective spray actually works! So I’m sold, and now spray it on my hair before using my hair dryer as well.
Do you use ghd products? Do you curl your hair with a tong? If you have any tutorials I would love to see them.
