We have the most beautiful dark wooden floorboards in our one bedroom flat, in North London. Along with the high ceilings and white walls, they were the first thing that attracted us to our flat. However, they can be a nightmare to clean, especially when we have a number of rugs dotted throughout. In our experience, no vacuum has managed the task of switching from floorboards to carpet seamlessly. It has either included changing attachments, or using two different products – a floor duster for the floorboards and a handheld vacuum for the rugs. Neither of which are an ideal situation, and with the amount of hair I seem to lose each week, it is crucial that we keep on top of cleaning our floors.
I was first introduced to the Shark Cordless Vacuum with Duo Clean, a couple of months ago, at their press day, held at the beautiful ME London hotel. During my time with the Shark team, I was able to test drive a Shark Cordless Vacuum, and conveniently they had a space set up which included both floorboards and rug. This preview allowed me to view first hand, the ease in which Shark’s cordless vacuum manoeuvred over different materials, with the same amount of traction.
The Shark Cordless Vacuum with Duo Clean also has many other fantastic benefits. Its flexibility allows it to glide around corners, and its wide bristles are able to reach closely to the edges of a room. Unlike many other vacuums, its flexibility also means it can easily reach under furniture such as sofas and beds, without you having to physically bend to the floor. It also has two lights on the front, allowing you to see under dark spaces, to make sure you don’t leave any dirt behind! (I also found it looked like two cute eyes and gave the vacuum some personality. Ha!)
Being cordless, it is incredibly easy to get around our entire flat in one go, and not have to stop to unplug from room to room. Unlike other cordless vacuums we have used, its battery power is long lasting, allowing us to clean our (albeit small) one bedroom apartment. For those of you who have a larger house, it comes with two batteries, which can be charged simultaneously or separately, meaning another is on hand at any time, ready to go.
The Shark Cordless Vacuum comes with no bag; instead, it has an easy to empty compartment towards the top of the handle. The handle is detachable, allowing you to remove it from the main body of the vacuum, thus transforming it into a handheld – perfect for cleaning sofas and hard to reach places, whilst giving ease to emptying.
The neck of the vacuum also detaches lower down, allowing you to be able to reach up into the corners of a room, for those extra hard to reach places – perfect for us with our high ceilings… I cannot believe how many cobwebs we found doing this!
As with many vacuums, the Shark Cordless Vacuum with Duo Clean comes with lots of different attachments, which I am yet to road test, but so far, we have found that the standard attachments have worked wonders alone.
Inbuilt technology also gives way for two strength settings, the higher of which is pretty meaty – I found myself being pulled along with it. But it worked incredibly well on our tight wool weave rug.
You may have also noticed the interesting folding technique in the first photo. This allows the vacuum to easily stand up alone, rather than falling over, or having to prop up against the wall, if you need to dash off and answer the phone. It also makes it super convenient to store!
Priced between £349.99 – £479.99, the Shark Cordless Vacuum with Duo Clean is available in a range of colours… I love that the blue colour perfectly matches our rug!
