Whether the thought of putting on a bikini fills you with fear or you’re already planning your swim wear selfies, this season’s catwalks saw an incredibly diverse range of styles. I must admit, I don’t feel completely beach ready yet myself. Luckily though, bodies of all shapes and sizes have been catered for this season and bikinis are no longer reserved for the lean and leggy.

Whether you want to hide your soft tummy, make your legs appear longer or make a statement by the pool, you’ll definitely find a flattering style for your inner beach babe. Need some convincing? Take a look at this season’s hottest trends and rock some confidence by the pool.

High rise bottoms

Tu Clothing Bikini Bottoms

Perfect for anyone feeling a little self-conscious about displaying their midriff, high rise bikini bottoms are right on trend this season and they’re far from plain and boring. Embrace your inner goddess and go for a glitzy jewel embellished look, keep it fun with bright, tropical prints or go for a latice-style waistband for a cutting edge finish. Mix and match with your favourite bikini tops – I’ve got my eye on this pair from Tu clothing because I know they’ll go perfectly with both black and white tops and coverups.

Ultra-cool statement pieces

From one shoulder numbers to wrap around tops, this season’s bold new pieces are sure to make you feel fabulous. Bright, neon colours keep it fun while accentuating your tan, and fashion-forward statement laces will keep you on point. Tasselled tops might not scream practical when it comes to swimwear, but were a big feature at Miami Swim Week – as were knock-out high necks.

Halter tops

Skimpy triangle tops seem to be a thing of the past and have made way for a range of innovative halter options. Maximising skin exposure on the back, halter tops minimise those annoying tan lines and are brilliant for bigger busts. You’ll find every design conceivable this season, from revealing sheer inserts and crocheted cut-outs to more conservative offerings with moulded cups.

Bandeau bikini tops

Elastic-style tube tops from the 90s can be worn in loads of different ways and without going topless, a bandeau top is closest you’ll get to the perfect tan. With so many styles and patterns to choose from, keep it fresh and fun with distinctive Aztec prints or opt for a sleek look with cross-front bikini tops.

Athleisure aesthetic

Follow in the footsteps of trendsetting Gigi Hadid and opt for an effortlessly chic sports luxe design. Regular readers will know I’m a huge fan of this look and I can’t wait to try out the trend on the beach. From sporty separates in bold colours to super cute floral offerings, team with a simple baseball cap to complete this hot look.
Whether you’re riding the waves or just want to look the part, surfer girls wearing fashion-forward rash guards with plenty of attitude dominated the catwalks this season. Crop tops boasting sheer panels, glamorous long sleeved tops teamed with tiny bikini bottoms and plenty of exciting colours and prints all featured as one of the top Spring/Summer 2017 swimwear trends
